Numbers are a fundamental way of describing the world. They are abstract in nature and is applicable for understanding a variety of situations. Place Value plays an important role in Mathematics and finding place values can often be confusing for students. So, To  understand the magnitude of numbers, alleviate their confusion and make learning place value fun, students of Grade-1 were explained the concept through various hands on activities such as fun with ice cream sticks wherein students were divided into groups and were asked to create a number for example ‘36’ using these sticks. The second activity was conducted using the Ganit Mala where students were called one by one to create a number on the ganit mala. They were asked to show the number by counting the number of beads.
Lastly, they were given exposure through Dienes blocks. They were told that 10 Dienes Blocks can be  replaced with the stick. So, they used it and started creating the numbers without taking much time as the concept was very clear to them. These hands on experience made the concept more simpler and fun filled.
